About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

Bradley starts KINDERGARTEN!

So Bradley started kindergarten TODAY!  In one way I can't believe this day is already here and in another way, I'm so excited for this new chapter in his life!  He has been so excited about going to school and thought when he turned 5, he would go to school.  So on his birthday in June, he woke up thinking it was time for him to go to school.  He has been waiting for this day for so long!  To see him excited about learning and making new friends makes the send off a little less painful.  Bradley, I'm so proud of you being brave and courageous as you begin this new adventure.  Have fun, enjoy learning, and most of all be yourself and don't ever let anyone change who you are.

Our Weekend Recap

It was the weekend before school started so we decided to have a nice relaxing family weekend.  We started Saturday morning off with hiking to Jewel Falls in Portland.  It was a new trail and we were excited to see a waterfall.  Unfortunately we haven't had a lot of rain  in the last couple of months so the waterfall was more like a little trickle.  Our plans to pick up deli sandwiches for lunch changed when our deli store closed early.  Backup plans became pizza from Amatos and we took it to the waterfront to watch the boats while we ate.  A quick afternoon nap and then we headed to church on Saturday night.

On Sunday, I went back to church to help pack some boxes for Project Blessings, a really cool ministry the church has to help the homeless get back on their feet.  We hit the beach once I got back home and we relaxed on the beach all afternoon.  The weather was beautiful! Sunday night consisted of early bedtimes and getting on a schedule for school.

Our Trip to SC, TN, & NC

Our summer vacation consisted of making a trip to South Carolina and Tennessee last week.  We left on a Thursday morning and flew back the following Friday night.  It was Bradley and Savannah's first commercial plane ride and they both did very well.  It was so great seeing all our friends and being able to catch up right where we left off.  A huge thanks to all of you who went out of your way to meet up with us!  Our trip was also a good closure for Mike since he barely had time to say goodbye to Greenville before his work whisked him away to training in St. Louis.  A great trip but we were so excited to come back home and for Maine to really feel like home!

Bradley absolutely loved every minute of the plane ride.  Savannah kept us busy but at least there was no screaming and she stayed healthy enough despite the millions of germs surrounding her.

We filled up on Southern comfort food all week.  Our bodies didn't know how to handle all that fried chicken and sweet tea!  Savannah had her first waffle fry from Chick-fil-A,
Mike was a happy guy getting his custard from Culvers, Bradley was introduced to Zaxby's chicken wings & fried pickles, and I was super happy to get my chicken & dumplings with mashed potatoes and green beans!

Our favorite part of the trip was obviously catching up with friends and family and introducing them all to Savannah.  For the amount of people she was passed around to, I think she handled herself very well and was a good sport!  Bradley was thrilled with having so many kids and cousins to play with every single day.

We managed to get in a little bit of family time during our busy schedule.  The Greenville Zoo, Pool time at the hotel, and miniature golf!

The Smoky Mountains will always be a beautiful part of my life.

Our Weekend Recap

And just like that, July is over.  Our last weekend in July was full of family time, binge watching the last season of Downton Abbey, Farmer's Market, visiting friends, church, checking out some new places, and the ocean of course.

We love walking to our local Farmer's Market every Saturday morning!

Our first time eating at Slyders at Old Orchard Beach.
We used a Groupon I had bought several months ago.

The food was your typical beach concession food, cheeseburgers and fries.
Tasted great but then we all felt like junk afterwards.

Bradley and I rode the Electra Wheel at Palace Playground in Old Orchard Beach.

Bradley was actually really nervous about this ride
but he was so brave and conquered his fear!

We had to have an all veggie meal on Saturday night after our lunch at Slyders.

A game of cards ended our Saturday night!

 Family nap on Sunday afternoon.

 Train track fun!

Family walk at Higgins Beach on Sunday night

Love the bond these two have!

Bradley was born to be a Mainer.

 It was a beautiful night!

This girl even loves the cold ocean water.

Bradley loves climbing the rocks at the beach.

I taught Bradley how to peel potatoes on Sunday night for supper
and he was quite the little peeler!

We ate the best mashed potatoes thanks to this little chef!
