I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. GingerSnaps Cookie Recipe

If there was a cookie I would want people to remember me by, this would be the one.  I don't know what it is about these cookies, but they make memories flood through your head and you feel like you're back at Grandma's house on a cool Fall day watching her bake in the kitchen.  This is the perfect cookie to welcome Fall.  Enjoy!

3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup softened butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Decorative Sugar Crystals for top of cookies (optional)

Combine shortening, butter, and sugar and beat until creamy.  Add molasses and eggs and beat well.  Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix until well combined.  Refrigerate for at least 12 hours.  Scoop out cookie dough and roll into ball form and dip in sugar crystals. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes.
