About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

Our Weekend Recap

We just finished a FOUR day weekend!  It was so nice to have so much time together as a family. We started Friday off with going to New Hampshire.  Both Mike and I had to have some blood drawn for tests for our health insurance discount.  So Mike decided to take the day off from work to get the tests taken care of and have a family fun day.  After our blood work, we had breakfast at Early Bird Cafe in South Berwick, Maine.  The delicious food and incredible coffee completely made up for the slow service.  Then we headed to Vaughns Wood State Park which was just about 10 minutes from the Early Bird Cafe.  It is by far our most favorite state park for hiking we've been to!  The woods were so beautiful and the trails were very well taken care of.  And the biggest perk is the amount of geocaches and really, really good ones too!  Bradley loved the cool toys in some of them.  We decided to be adventurous and ate lunch at JiggerMugs drive-thru diner.  Let's just say we won't be eating there again. :)  After getting home, we quickly made out a list of things we needed to complete our "to do" list during the weekend and we headed off to Lowes.  After Lowes we grabbed a quick Little Caesars pizza, picked up a movie and ended our night watching The Allegiant.

Chocolate chip pancakes, french toast, and Mexican breakfast burrito were all so yummy!

Hiking would be a lot easier if Miss Priss would sit in her backpack!
The best hikers!

Bradley and I love finding geocaches!

This particular geocache was full of really cool toys for kids!

Taking a break from hiking and Savannah begins to bite Bradley within seconds of sitting down.

I love these three people!

Another great geocache find!

We hiked almost two miles and found 4 geocaches!
Our first and last time at JitterMugs.  HAHA!
Always ready for an adventure!

We were at Lowes for an hour and these two were a hoot and had everyone in the store smiling.
We woke up early on Saturday ready to accomplish a lot!  And we did.  Mike started on replacing some old wood on the house that was rotting and I painted some doors.  We had three different color of green doors when we moved in and I'm just now getting around to changing the colors on the last two doors.  Mike fixed the deck and I painted the mud room porch entrance.  We came in around 3 pm and had enough time to rest, take shower, and head to church for evening worship.

Sanding off the old green paint was quite the process.

One of the corners on the house that was rotting.
Black is much better than green.

This door was dark hunter green color that I painted white.
One corner replaced and ready to be stained.

You don't realize how bad something looks until it gets a fresh coat of stain.
We woke up early on Sunday morning ready to head outside again.  We focused on the yard and cut down small trees, trimmed up some larger pine trees and cleared some brush.  I had a massage on Sunday afternoon (it was amazing!) and then we went to Chipotle for supper.  Kids eat free on Sunday nights during the month of September!

Excited to cut down trees!

Happily playing Legos outside

Bradley was so confident his little wooden saw would cut down this huge tree.

He decided his tree house needed to be cleaned.

Cleaning up some pine trees

Less leaves I'm going to have to rake up this Fall.

Our brush pile filled up quickly.

Before and after picture of the backyard.

This girl loves her guacomole.

I'm pretty sure we'll be having Chipotle every Sunday in September.

And another stop into Lowes on the way home for some last minute items.
Bradley was so over it by this point.
By Monday morning we were all moving very slow.  Savannah was super cranky and both Mike and I weren't feeling the "to do" list at all.  But we still managed to get quite a few more things checked off.  Mike worked on building baby gates for the steps while I turned the guest bedroom into a playroom, cleaned the fish tank, oiled all the doors, and bug sprayed the house.  Lots of little projects that we keep putting off.  LifeGroup is starting back up next week and we figured by making the guest bedroom into a playroom, it might make it easier for the kids.  So our Bed & Breakfast will be out of commission for the next 10 weeks unless you want to sleep on the couch.  Mike ended our long holiday weekend by making Chinese for supper and we vegged out and watched some movies with the kids.

Baby gate made and will be installed when Savannah starts crawling.
Mike did an amazing job on these!
It didn't take them long at all to break in the new play room.

Super yummy Orange chicken with fried rice!
I forgot to take a picture of the egg rolls and cheese wontons.
