About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood by Melissa Kruger Book Review & Giveaway

I was just telling someone the other day how I feel guilty complaining about Motherhood being difficult when I only have one child.  One child or six children....Motherhood is difficult and there should be no guilt in saying that.  One of the biggest areas I personally struggle with is taking time to read the Bible and pray.

Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood is an 11 week devotional Bible study.  Melissa Kruger does a great job giving insights that will help you understand and pursue your purpose as a mother, live out your true priorities, entrust your child to God, bear the fruit of the Spirit in everyday interactions, and recover from PMS (perfect Mom syndrome).  The 11 weeks are broken down in four days of study geared specifically for Moms.  My favorite part about this book is having the Scripture right inside the book. All the verses she references are written in her book which makes accessing God's word as easy as possible in our busy, daily lives.

One of my favorite chapters was on praying for your child.  So many times I pray for the basic things that I want for Bradley (health, safety, good manners, etc.) but I neglect praying for his heart.  I love how Melissa makes it a priority for reminding us the importance of praying for our children.  She encourages us to find a verse to pray out for your child.  I'm claiming Ephesians 3:16-19 for Bradley.  I want him to grasp how deep and wide the Father's love for him is.  I want him to truly understand God's grace and there is nothing he needs to do to earn it.  It's freely given to him because God loves him so much.

Season of Motherhood is an excellent devotional Bible study that I encourage every Mom to read.  Would you like a chance to win  your own copy?  Simply enter below and a winner will be randomly chosen on Wednesday, April 8th.

Our Weekend Recap

Wow!  What a perfect weekend with my siblings making new memories
and remembering old ones!

A couple weeks ago my brother-in-law, texted me about sending my sister Heather up to my house for an early weekend birthday present.  Of course it was ok and a couple hours later, he's sending me her flight information.  I immediately called my older sister, Shannon and my brother, Brandon and asked if they would be interested in flying up here to surprise Heather.  I can't thank God enough for allowing everyone to have free schedules, available and affordable flights, and for everything to be pieced together perfectly.

I don't even know where to start in describing our weekend.  Lots of laughter (the kind where you almost pee your pants), a ton of sightseeing, introduction to geocaching, lots of eating, relaxing, coffee and some more coffee, reminiscing of our childhood days, and enjoying being together as siblings!

Thank you so much Shannon, Heather, and Brandon for spending your weekend in Maine.  A huge thanks to their spouses Shawn, Brett, and Kate for giving them up for a weekend.  And a big thanks to my husband Mike for just being so awesome during the weekend.

Brandon taught us all about geocaching. We each found one all by ourselves which was pretty cool!  Heather found the most unique container, Brandon found the tiniest container, Shannon found the largest container, and I found a container the fastest.

Bradley was all about his Uncle Brandon and those two became best friends!

Sweet Sawyer came along and he was such a happy baby.  I'm pretty sure it was either from being with me (his favorite aunt) or the fresh Maine air. Either one should easily convince Shannon and her family to move to Maine immediately.  Bradley was too cute playing with his cousin and he was so sweet saying "I just love my cousin".

Of course, I had to introduce everyone to Whoopie Pies, Moxie, and Lobster Rolls....even though I still refuse to eat Lobster.  I love Shannon's facial expression when she drank the Moxie.  I only know one person that actually likes that drink....and of course it's my husband who likes pretty much anything and everything.

Being all together at the ocean was my favorite part.  There is something about being near the ocean that makes heaven seem closer.  It was almost like Mom was there with us.  I know for sure she was looking down and smiling, watching us have a wonderful time together!

Mike took Bradley to an Easter egg hunt at church on Saturday morning.  It was Bradley's first Easter egg hunt in the snow!  A huge thanks to my friend Melissa for surprising him with an adorable Easter shirt!  It came the day before the Easter egg hunt....perfect timing!

After we took everyone back to the airport on Sunday morning, Mike and I had breakfast at Mike's Pastry in downtown Boston.  No one makes a cannoli like Mike's!  I took Mike to find his first geocache and then we took a walk at Old Orchard Beach.  And of course, it was a very early bedtime for me!  What a fabulous weekend!!  Can we please do it all over again next weekend??
