About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your stories with me as well.

Our Weekend Recap

So we pretty much had a perfect dreamy weekend.  It started on Friday with Mike taking the day off to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.  Mimi and PopPop along with Uncle Kevin, Stacy, and Auntie KK stopped for lunch on their way up to Belfast for Steven's football game on Saturday.  Bradley got to tag along with all of them so Mike and I had a kid free weekend!

We finished some Christmas shopping for Bradley on Friday afternoon, stopped for a free coffee at Cumberland Farms and went to Kettle Cove to watch the sunset.  We only lasted about 10 minutes because it was so cold and windy.  Then we ate a new restaurant and had a delicious steak dinner.  We came home and we wrapped all the presents while watching The Amazing Race.  Christmas presents are finished for Bradley!  One more thing I can cross off the list before baby Savannah arrives!

Bradley was packed and ready to go 3 hours before Mimi and PopPop arrived!
He was just a little excited about his weekend away.  ;)

Happy smiles ready for a fun weekend together!

Christmas presents for Bradley all wrapped and ready to go!

We woke up super early on Saturday morning so we could watch the sunrise at The Portland Head Light.  This time we brought heavy winter coats, gloves, hats, and extra blankets.  We stayed toasty warm and it was a gorgeous sunrise.  Since Saturday was my designated "cheat day" for my low carb diet we stopped at The Cookie Jar for coffee and donut holes.  Best donuts ever...I highly recommend the pumpkin spice donuts and the red velvet donuts, and the coconut chocolate donuts, and just about every other donut they have!

There's nothing like watching a sunrise especially at the ocean.
All bundled up and enjoying the beautiful morning!

 Postcard perfect!

Having this extra one on one time with Mike was just what I needed!

The Cookie Jar is a must for all pastry lovers!  And you must try their blueberry coffee!

After breakfast we headed up North about an hour to a little town called Damariscotta.  It was a really cute town and they had a pumpkinfest going on where there were a lot of large hand painted pumpkins.  It was so much fun seeing the different paintings and seeing how large these pumpkins were.  Then we finally had our "Maine Adventure" and went into Renys.  I have seen their commercial a million times and their Renys tune was stuck in my head all day long.  Honestly, I wasn't too impressed with their store but we did pick up a few items for the kiddos.  Did I just say kiddos??  It's crazy to think we will have TWO in less than TWO months!

A couple scenic stops on the way back.  There is no place like Maine!

Afternoon naps were next on our list and when we woke up I was feeling like crap just from those donuts.  It's crazy how one cheat food can completely throw you off.  We decided to go out and rake the back yard so after 40 minutes of exercise I was feeling much better.  We ordered pizza for a late lunch/early supper and watched the first half of the GA/FL game.  Then we ended our night passing out candy to trick or treaters while playing several board and card games.

A huge amount of leaves mostly from one tree!!

We slept in on Sunday and having that extra hour of sleep was fabulous!  Especially since Mimi and PopPop said Bradley woke up at 5:20 am at the hotel!  Our relatives were headed back home to CT and would stop by for brunch so we relaxed for a little bit and then started prepping for brunch.  Bradley was super excited to see us and it was so much fun hearing about all his adventures.  Mimi and PopPop stayed overnight so we were able to have some extra time with them relaxing and catching up on the latest happenings.

Thank you, THANK YOU, thank you times a million Mimi and PopPop for taking Bradley for the weekend.  And a huge thanks to Auntie KK, Uncle Kevin and Stacy for keeping him entertained and spoiling him rotten.  He hasn't stopped talking about all of you and Mike and I had such a perfect kid-free weekend!
