About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your stories with me as well.

One More Step by Rachel Wojo Book Review

Overcoming obstacles - one step at a time.  Rachael Wojo is just like you and me.  Life hasn't been easy for her or her family but she has found a way to find joy in the hard times.  She is very transparent in her book telling us about some of her trials.  She points us to encouraging Bible verses where we will find hope to keep taking one more step.

At the end of each chapter are perfectly selected Bible verses she encourages us to write down and/or memorize.  She calls these pillars of truth to lean on.  She also has stepping stones sections at the end of each chapter which are pieces of advice for taking that next step.  There are four weeks of discussion questions at the back of the book in case you would like to make this into a small group study or a ladies bible study.

**Disclosure - I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a review.  All opinions expressed here are my own.

Our Weekend Recap

Mike was able to get off at 2 pm on Friday and it was almost 60 degrees so we put up some outside Christmas decorations and lights.  We ended our night with pizza and a family movie which both Mike and I fell asleep to.  Bradley ended up waking us up and telling us that we missed the best movie.  :)

On Saturday, we took it very easy.  We were all pretty exhausted from the Thanksgiving festivities earlier in the week.  Bradley had a friend come over for a play date later in the afternoon and they were both thrilled to be helping me decorate the Christmas tree.  They were the sweetest little helpers!

After church on Sunday, we went to Panera Bread for lunch and then it was home for naps.  We went to the Gorham Christmas parade and tree lighting but didn't stay very long.  Both Mike and I felt like we were coming down with a stomach bug so the couch was our best friend for the rest of the night.  Just four more weekends until baby Savannah makes her arrival!

Our Weekend Recap

Wow!  Did we even have a weekend?  It feels impossible that it's already Monday and it's the week of Thanksgiving!  We stayed super busy this weekend getting lots accomplished and having some fun in between the busy schedule.

We ran several errands on Friday night and Mike's favorite stop was at Sam's Club.  I received a free membership last week so we made our first trip there.  It's a little better than BJ's but it's still not my Costco.  Mike received a birthday gift card to Sports Authority so he bought a new pair of sneakers.  A trip to Lowes, because what's a weekend without going there, to pick up some items to fix one of our toilets.  And a trip to one of the local grocery stores to stock up on their k-cup sale.  I'm starting to become hooked on blueberry coffee, another sign of becoming a Mainer!

We started off Saturday morning with breakfast and then went straight into a budget meeting.  Mike and I try to make time for budget meetings once every 3-4 months just to stay on track with our goals.  After finishing the budget without any kicking or screaming, we headed outside to get some yard work done.  Our last time raking leaves (YAY), Mike mowed, and we brought all of our lawn chairs and summer toys inside the basement for the Winter.  We all took quick showers, ate some sandwiches and then we were off to bring Mike's car into the shop to get snow tires put on.  We left his car at the tire shop and headed to Loudon, NH for the Gift of Lights at the NH Speedway.  It was just under two hours and we made one dessert stop to get some ice cream and whoopies pies.  The lights were a bit of a disappointment to me and Mike but Bradley loved it and seeing Santa!  He told Santa all he wanted for Christmas was a yoyo.  That's easy and cheap enough!  :)

Making sure the snowblower is ready to go for the Winter!

All the leaves are finally raked up for this year.

We stopped for some sweet treats at Johnson's Dairy Bar.  Wicked yummy desserts!
Mike loves his grape nuts ice cream...
it's a Mainer thing that I don't think I'll ever get used to.

NH Motor Speedway
We found a yummy pizza joint for supper on Saturday night.

We went to church on Sunday morning and then came home and took a nap after lunch.  Then it was chore time again with finishing up laundry, repairing a toilet, (which required another trip to Lowes), menu planning and cutting coupons, and then we were finally able to end the night relaxing.
My two handsome men ready for church.

This guy is the jack of all trades!
He was absolutely thrilled to be fixing this toilet especially since he is a major germ freak.

Gift of Lights at the New Hampshire Speedway in Loudon, NH

Our family loves looking at Christmas lights so we were very excited to go check out the Gifts of Lights at the NH Speedway.

Gifts of Lights spans over two miles and features 60+ holiday scenes and over 400 light displays.  We've never been to a speedway before so it was cool to be able to see these lights around the outside of the track's grandstands and a small portion of the NHMS road course.  Our personal favorite was driving through the infield tunnel and down VIP street.

You can check out the Gifts of Lights from now until Saturday, January 2, 2016.  Gates open at 4:30 pm and all cars in line by 9 pm will be allowed to drive through.  There are several days they will be closed so be sure to check out their website for further details.

Tickets are $15 per car Monday - Thursday and $20 per car Friday - Sunday.  All my readers also get a $2 coupon so click here to print your discount.  Entrance begins at the South Entrance of the speedway and you will drive for a little bit before you arrive at the main gate where you will purchase your tickets.

Your child can have pictures taken with Santa Claus in the gift shop for $5.  Be sure to take a minute to check out their gift shop too for those racing fans on your Christmas list.  They also have a small concession stand with fried dough, hot chocolate, and other yummy treats.  They also have a s'mores pit and your first s'more is free!  This pit is located across the parking lot near the exit from the main office.  There will also be some local driver appearances on special days so be sure to check out their calendar here. (located under activities tab)

The Gifts of Lights is rather simply decorated.  The main attraction would be the racetrack so for the Nascar fan, this would be a must see.  If you are going just for the Christmas lights, I'd probably skip this event because you could be disappointed.

**Thanks to USFamilyGuide for providing this free opportunity for my family in exchange for a review.

Just In Time For Christmas Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie

Bradley went to bed early last night and Mike was busy studying which meant I got to chose a movie to watch by myself.  Hallmark had sent me an exclusive link to watch their newest Christmas movie that will be released on December 5th so it was the perfect time to check it out.  For those who know me, I'm not really into cheesy Hallmark movies but I will admit that sometimes it's nice to sit down and watch a wholesome movie, knowing I won't have to worry about offensive language or inappropriate scenes ruining the movie.  Hallmark is great about making family friendly movies that the whole family can enjoy.

Just In Time For Christmas is about a woman named Lindsay who is faced with a life-altering decision as Christmas approaches: Stay in her tiny hometown and marry boyfriend Jason or accept a coveted post teaching at an Ivy League college on the other side of the country. What to do? Fortunately for Lindsay, she has some big-time help in the form of a magical messenger who is able to transport her three years into the future to see how it would all turn out.

Just In Time For Christmas will air on the Hallmark Channel on December 5th at 8 pm/7c.  Be sure to check it out!

Our Weekend Recap

Mike had a manager's conference in Phoenix, AZ this past weekend so it was just me and Bradley hanging out.  We tried to do a couple fun things each day but for the most part, we relaxed, watched Christmas movies, played board games, and managed to get in a little house cleaning and laundry too.

Bradley was so excited to see The Peanuts Movie!

 Mommy/son date at the movies!

Lots of train tracks and Lego buildings were created this weekend.

The only reason Bradley was glad Daddy was gone was because he was allowed to sleep with me each night.  Other than that, this little guy missed his Daddy so much!

And some more creativity (mess) was made!

I think this is the first pregnancy selfie I've taken.  41 more days!!  This baby girl is already weighing in at 5.6 pounds!  Ultrasound every week now to monitor her growth.

Bradley learned how to play tic tac toe this weekend!

He loves Mexican food as much as his Mama does!

 Frisbee time outside

Some tire swinging fun!

And of course we had to go for a bike ride!

Time to clean up the house from all our partying this weekend.
Bradley was a huge help and washed the stairs for me.

Taking a quick nap on Sunday night before picking up Daddy from the airport

He was one happy boy when he saw his Daddy!
