About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your stories with me as well.

Our Weekend Recap

Mike's big test for school is on Tuesday night so he was studying a LOT this weekend.  But we still managed to get some sweet family moments in during his breaks.

We started Saturday morning off with a game of Candy Land.  Bradley won both games and was very proud of himself.  The boys did their normal routine of wrestling and Legos while I cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast.  Then we took some family photos while the leaves are still gorgeous. Next year we will have to hire a professional...the selfie stick worked ok but it was a painful process.  A quick trip to Target to pick up a couple items and then we were back home for the rest of the day.
The hair fairy visited both of these boys on Friday night!

What is it with boys and wrestling?
It's one of Bradley's favorite things to do right now!

I can't believe this kid is almost 4 1/2 years old!

 Family picture #236....
I'm sure we entertained our neighbors while we were attempting these pictures.

Family picture #312...and I've yet to learn the correct place to look at the camera!

 #30 weeks...just 66 more days!

Bradley loves giving his baby sister kisses!

The two cutest boys in the world!

We bought some baby stuff at Target.  Mike is still trying to process all this PINK stuff!

This guy is so dedicated to finishing school right now!  I'm so proud of him!!

We had a great message at church on Sunday morning.  God really spoke to my heart using  Jesus' promise to us in John 14 of leaving us with the gift of peace of mind and heart.  Bradley and I were exhausted when we got home so we both took a nap while Mike studied some more.  That evening we took Bradley to the local school park and then he and Mike played some basketball while I made dinner.  Another weekend over and one more weekend closer until baby G arrives!

Bradley took a 2 hour nap and didn't move a muscle the entire time!

 Working out his arm muscles.

 Bradley loves the park!

He was determined to beat Daddy on the slide.

Bradley is doing a great job at learning how to dribble the basketball.

This tree in our backyard is absolutely gorgeous right now.  The leaves are so bright when the sun is shining that it sends an orange light into the house through the windows.

Our Weekend Recap

We had a nice weekend without any plans or schedules.  And it was our first weekend of really cold weather.  It was in the 20's at night and 40's during the day with lots of wind.  We cleaned out the mud room and packed away all our summer items and brought out the winter coats, boots, and mittens.  The snow will be here before we know it!  Bradley and I raked the front yard but within about 30 minutes, it was covered with leaves again.  It's a good thing I'm only raking for exercise and not to have a perfect looking yard or I would have been very discouraged.   I didn't take many pictures, I was in a relaxed mode I suppose.

Bradley all ready to rake the yard!

Mike and Bradley shooting some hoops.

 This kid loves his legos.

I found Bradley a bed frame (headboard & footb0ard) at a church rummage sale.  It was an Ethan Allen set and I paid $8 for it.  Bradley is so excited to have a "big bed".

It was 40 degrees and windy on Sunday afternoon
but the cold didn't bother these two kids!

Bradley new favorite game right now is tag.  The little guy can run!

 Two goofballs.

He made himself all comfy and cozy in front of the fireplace on
Sunday night to watch the Patriots football game.

Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Muffin Mix Review

This muffin mix couldn't have come at a better time.  With me being on the new diet for gestational diabetes, I've stayed away from muffins...until now.  Thanks to Bob's Red Mill gluten free muffin mix, I can eat one muffin without my blood sugar spiking.

These muffins are so easy to make. You just have to add simple ingredients like butter, eggs, and milk.  You can also add your choice of add-ins like berries, nuts, or chocolate chips.  If there is a dairy allergy in your family, you can easily swap out the regular milk for coconut, almond, or soy milk.  If you're a vegan, you can swap out the eggs for flaxseed meal.  I love how versatile these muffins are for people on specific diets!

Between prep and baking time, these muffins are ready to eat in less than 30 minutes.  The mix makes 12 full size muffins and you can even stretch the batter to 15 muffins if you need to.  When I served these to my friends, they couldn't even tell that these were gluten free.  They are so soft and fluffy, just like a muffin you would buy from a bakery.

I have several friends that are on a gluten free diet or their children are.  I loved being able to share these muffin mixes with them.  Bob's Red Mill is a name that we all trust and know how great their products always are!

**Disclosure - Thanks to Bob's Red Mill for providing me with samples of their Gluten-Free Muffin Mix and coupons for me and my friends.  These items were given to me in exchange for a review.  All opinions expressed here are my own.

CVS Deals Week of October 11-17

This was the week for me to stock up on candy for Halloween and Trunk or Treat at church.  After coupons the bags came to $1.67 each and they are normally priced at $4.79 each!  I'm bringing 3 bags of candy to church and I have 6 bags for our house.  We weren't moved in yet last year so I have no idea how many kids to expect.  Resisting opening a bag right now is taking a huge amount of willpower for this pregnant mama!

I split these purchases up in two transactions to make my out of pocket as cheap as possible.  It still managed add up to a large total but I think I'm fully stocked up on body wash, shampoo, makeup and deodorant for the next couple of crazy months.  And the candy alone was around $15 even after using coupons.  My grand total for all the above items was $45.44, I saved $86.58, and I have $10 left in ECB's to be used on my next purchase.

The Dove body wash was my absolute favorite deal this week.  When you buy $30 worth of select Dove products, you receive $10 back in ECB's.  The products are also buy one get one 50% off.  I had coupons for each product along with an additional CVS kiosk coupon.  I paid a total of $20.24 and received $10 back in ECB's making each item $1.70 each after ECB's.  And knowing that one bottle of body wash is normally $8.99 makes me very happy with my savings!  And Mike will be happy that he now has some "manly" body wash.  Bless his heart, he had to use coconut water body wash this morning!

Our Weekend Recap

We started the weekend off rough.  Mike and I both slept terrible on Friday night and we woke up on Saturday knowing we both had some chores that we were dreading.

My chore was to take down window screens, clean blinds, and wash windows.  My way of cleaning blinds is to completely take down the blind and wash it in the bathtub.  I know there are recommended easier ways to wash blinds, but in my world I don't feel like they are clean until they've been scrubbed in the tub.  And since I only wash windows twice a year, this project took me 4 hours to get just 10 windows completed!  And I still have another 12 to finish sometime this week.  UGH!

Bradley was such a great little helper!

The one on the left is squeaky clean!

Mike's chore was to fix our falling apart shed so we could store some lawn equipment in there for the Winter.  Once Mike got back from Lowe's, Bradley was so excited to go help Daddy because being outside is so much better than being inside.

Cutest little worker around!

He pulled every single one of these boards out of the car!

He told me the sandwich he ate for lunch gave him extra energy
and muscles to carry these boards. What a hoot!!

We crashed at 3:30 pm just in time to watch the Vols vs GA football game.  I made cauliflower crust pizza for supper.  My diet has drastically changed with having gestational diabetes and I'm trying to keep my carb count very low.  I've only failed 9 out of the 34 tests I've taken in the last 8 days.

The pizza very filling and satisfied my pizza craving.

We went to the early service at church on Sunday morning.  Mike had a 3 hour test to take so Bradley and I stayed busy reading the newspaper, playing with toys, and then taking a nap.  We were all feeling restless on Sunday afternoon so we headed to the ocean.  Winter is quickly coming so we might as well take advantage of every "warm" day that's left.

Not many more days left of Bradley being the only child.

 My two favorite boys!

The beach is his favorite playground!

Picking up his first hermit crab.

 He doesn't stop running!

We found a nice handful of sea glass at Kettle Cove.

The biggest jellyfish I've seen yet!

CVS Deals Week of October 4-10

It's been a couple weeks since I made a CVS trip and there were a couple of great deals this week and coupons I needed to use so I made the trip.  I should have split this transaction into two but the cashier was a grumpy little man and I didn't want to make his day any more complicated.

My total out of pocket was $30.23, I saved $33.53 and I received $12 back in ECB's to be used on my next purchase.  The Tide laundry detergent (100 oz) came to be just $6.94 after a coupon and ECB's.  The deodorant was free after a coupon and ECB's.  The body wash was $2 each after coupons and ECB's.   The lotion was a little pricey at $4.39 each after coupons and ECB's.  But normally priced at $8.79 and with the dry winter season right around the corner, I needed to stock up!  And the makeup was the most expensive at $6.29 after coupons.  I was almost completely out of powder so that was a necessity.

Homemade Whipped Body Butter

I made my first batch of homemade whipped body butter.  I can't believe I just said that.  I feel like a character off Little House on the Prairie!  Except they wouldn't have owned an electric mixer.

I have recently joined a group that will send you products for $1 or less in exchange for writing a review.  You can learn more clicking here. You need to be an Amazon Prime member in order to join.

I received my first pound of organic raw unrefined shea butter earlier this week.  At first I was like what the heck am I going to do with this?  But after googling several uses for it, I thought making the body butter would be a fun experiment.  And surprisingly the body butter turned out fabulous and both Bradley and I love how soft it makes our skin.  Mike is not a fan of lavender but you can change the scent to whatever you prefer.

1/4 cup raw shea butter
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond oil
20 drops essential oil of your choice (I used lavender)

Measure out all ingredients into mixing bowl.  Use the whisk attachment and whip for 5 minutes.  Store in container or jar and use as often as you like.

Personalized Book from Hallmark Review & Giveaway!

Anybody that knows Bradley knows that he loves books.  We will check out 15 books at the library, go home and have all 15 books read in an hour.  Children's books are my weakness at the local bookstore.  We feel like we hit jackpot when we score books at yard sales.  You can never have too many books!

I was so excited to have this opportunity from Hallmark to review their personalized children's book.  And you also have a chance to win a personalized children's book thanks to Hallmark's generosity!

We have been online shopping so much for baby girl recently that Bradley just assumes that every package delivered to the house is for his sister.  He was so happy to know that a package came in the mail just for him!  He's just now getting into superheros so to see a Batman book with his own name on the cover just made his day!

These personalized books are so easy to order.  Click here to see all the books Hallmark offers.  Personalizing the book is super simple.  Just type in your child's name, who the book is from, click on the the child's hair, eye, skin color, and hair type and then you're done!  It took me longer to figure out what book I wanted to choose....they have so many great options!  The books are very well made, hardcover with beautiful glossy pages that have vibrant colors.  The shipping time was very impressive.  I had the book in less than a week!  These books can make fabulous Christmas presents!

Would you like a chance to win one of these books?  Take a minute to visit Hallmark's website, pick out the book you would want and leave me a comment with the title of the book.  One winner will be chosen on Friday, October 16th to win a free personalized book with free shipping!  Giveaway ends at midnight on Thursday, October 15th.
