About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine

Bradley and I went to the Children's Museum and Theatre of Maine downtown Portland yesterday.  I have to say I was quite spoiled by The Children's Museum of the Upstate in Greenville, SC.  The one in Portland is NOTHING like Greenville.  It's nice enough with several fun exhibits but it's rather small and can be very crowded.  I'm not sure if Bradley will be interested in going once he's a little older.  It seems like most everything is geared for children 7 and under.  A positive point is that they offer many programs for the children throughout the day.  Bradley really enjoyed the Messy Art, Turtle Time, and the Stage Story.  Admission is $10 per person and children under 18 months are free.  The first Friday of every month they offer $2 admission from 5-8 pm which is really cool.  The hours are 10 am - 5 pm.  There is a parking garage a block past the museum which offers discounted pricing at $2/hour for people going to the Children's Museum.  The garage fills up fast so be sure and get there early.  You are allowed to bring your own food and drink inside but there are designated places assigned for eating.  There is one vending machine on the lower level that offers healthy snacks and drinks.  Overall, it's a fun place to go for a couple of hours but I'm not sure we will buying an annual membership like we did in Greenville.

Grocery shopping was fun for Bradley!

He did pretty well on the climbing wall.

He loved the outdoor exhibit, especially the water station.

The honeybees were really fun to watch.
I loved how you could see them fly in from outside in the clear tube.

Bradley thought fixing the car and filling it up with gas was really neat.

The fire truck was extremely popular and I barely got this shot before a kid pushed Bradley out of the way so he could drive.

The spaceship was ok.  It wasn't quite as interactive as the one we are used to in Greenville.

This playground was a lot of fun but it was also very crowded with a mix of older kids and babies all climbing around.

The sawmill and the indoor water station were pretty cool.

My personal favorite was this little reading nook with all sorts of great books! Bradley only lasted about 10 minutes before he was ready to find something else to play.

The events for the day.  They offer a lot of fun activities that will keep you busy.
