About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your stories with me as well.

Beauty from Ashes....or in my case 3 inches of Snow

I watched my friend, Bethany share her story earlier this week.  I was reminded of what she said this morning when I woke up to 3 inches of snow.  In no way at all am I comparing my pathetic 3 inches of snow to Bethany dealing with Crohn's Disease for 10 years.  Bethany has been through more pain than I could imagine.  Listening to her describe how God gave her a new view on life reminds me to lose the pathetic attitude I chose this morning because God gave me 3 inches of snow rather than sunshine.

"God's greatness is not defined by my situation."  Just because it snowed 3 inches on April 9th when I expect sunshine and green grass weather, doesn't change the fact that God is great.  And when there is sunshine and green grass, it won't make God any greater.  There are so many times I base "God, You are great" moments on when life is going my way, which is wrong.  Psalm 100:5 says "For the Lord God is good.  His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation."  Ecclesiastes 7:14 says "When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this:  God has made the one as well as the other.  Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future."

"Life isn't always comfortable, but we haven't been called to a comfortable life.  We've been called to the abundant life and that's thru Christ.  Even in the pain joy. is available.  Even when we don't realize what's going on, He's taking our every day ashes and making them come alive with beauty."  Cold weather isn't my comfortable place.  But God didn't bring us to Maine just for us to experience a tropical island vacation life.  He can make the cold and snow something beautiful by changing my perspective about it.  Every time I see the freshly fallen snow I'm reminded of Isaiah 1:18 which says "Come now, let's settle this, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.  Though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."  What a beautiful reminder of how much God loves me every time I see fresh snow.  He's made my sin as white as snow.

So as much as I would love to crawl back in bed, sulk about the snow ruining my plans for the day, I'm going to choose joy.   Joy because God loves me in the sunshine or snow.
