About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

Groceries Week of November 30 - December 6

I've started using three different apps that give you cash back for your groceries.  Snap, Checkout 51, and Ibotta are the ones that I have on my phone.  All three are very simple to use and always have at least one offer a week that I can get cash back on.  In just one month, I've already earned $25.75 back in cash!  As soon as I get home from shopping, I take a picture of my receipt and check for the available cash back offers.  It's another great way to save some money on groceries!

I did much better this week with my grocery shopping.  Mike and Bradley both went with me last night.  Mike got to see a side of Bradley in the grocery store that he's never seen before so now he now knows I'm not exaggerating when I say "I hate grocery shopping with a 3 year old".  And I can say last night was the first time I grocery shopped wearing snow boots, a winter coat, mittens, and a hat!  But I wasn't cold one bit so it was worth looking like a Southerner in a Northern store.

Shaws - I spent a total of $61.33 and saved $39.70.  My favorite deal was the Mom's Best cereal on sale for $1 a box!!  I can't remember the last time I only paid $1 a box for cereal.  I also found olive oil on sale for $3.99 and I had $1 manufacturer's coupon.  Organic cane sugar was on sale for $2.99 and there was 55 cents peelie coupon on the package.

Hannaford - We needed milk and the farm was already closed.  Shaws was out of Smiling Hill Farm milk so we stopped at Hannaford.  But I found out that they don't accept the empty glass bottles so I had to pay for two more bottle deposits on the milk.  My out of pocket cost was more expensive on this trip but I'll get my money back when I take the empty bottles to the farm next week.  My total spent was $12.97 and that's including the extra $4 deposit charge.

Staples - I loved this deal at Staples this week!  $8.99 for 24 rolls of Charmin toilet paper and $8.99 for 12 rolls of Bounty Paper Towel.  That made it 37 cents per toilet paper roll and 74 cents per paper towel roll.  I also used two 20 cents manufacturer's coupons.  My total spent was $18.57.

My grand total for this week was $92.87.  WooHoo!!  That's $57.13 under my weekly grocery budget!  If I can just keep it this way, that would be fantastic!!
