About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

My Song for the Day - God is Able by Hillsong

I can't even begin to explain how much God has proven that "He is Able" over and over to me in the last two weeks.  Selling a house is S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L!  I'm seriously considering a full blown spa day after all this is over and I've made it to Portland without having a panic attack.  God made it very clear  to us that our next chapter in life is in Portland, Maine.  But there are quite a few things that have to be done in order to get there.  It's not like I can just tap my shoes and poof...I'm there.

For those of you who have had your house on the market for weeks and months, you are just going to laugh at me and say I'm a big baby.  I truly have a whole new respect for you all that are anxiously waiting for your house to sell.  I have no idea how you haven't had a panic attack yet.  This is our first time selling a house so we had no idea what to expect.  And we wanted to save some money, so we chose to sell without a realtor.  I don't think I've ever cleaned my house so thoroughly as I did getting ready for an open house.  I pretty much cleaned it with a fine tooth comb and it still didn't seem "show ready".  You should have seen the "to do" list we had.  I swear it kept getting longer and longer before we could even cross one thing off.  Cleaning the gutters, pressure washing and sealing the deck, pressure washing the porch and driveway, touch up painting inside the house, minor repair work in the crawl space, and so on.  To say that I was overwhelmed would be an understatement.  I was in pure panic mode.

Only by God's strength were we able to complete everything on our to do list within the last two weeks.  We were able to borrow a pressure washer, I had deck sealant in the garage that I bought over a year ago and never used, we found a guy to clean our gutters for $69, Mike was able to get all the touch up paint finished, de-cluttered and had a garage sale, and we both did the repair work under the crawl space ourselves.  By the way, if I never go under a crawl space again in my life, it will be just fine.  Everything seemed to go so smoothly, almost too good to be true but "He is Able".

On our second open house, God brought our buyers down our street.  They hadn't seen it advertised on Zillow, Craig's List, Facebook or word of mouth.  They were driving and saw the tiny little open house sign and decided to stop in.  It's so ironic because that's exactly how I found this house 7 years ago.  We were driving around and just happened to drive past this house being built.  I immediately fell in love as soon as I walked through the door.  And that's exactly what our new buyers did.  You could see the excitement in her eyes as she was walking around.  She LOVED the house and was picturing herself in it!  Every seller's dream!  I shouldn't be in shock that God had our house under contract in 10 days. "He is Able"

I didn't realize that even after we have a contract on the house, the stress is still there.  Home inspections, pest control inspections, appraisers, and so forth.  Besides the pressure of making sure NOTHING breaks or tears apart before the closing date.  Wow!  I had no idea what it takes to sell a house.  Praise the Lord the home inspection passed with just a few minor repairs, pest control confirmed we don't have termites and the crawl space looks great.  Another confirmation that "He is Able".

I love this song by Hillsong "He is Able".  What a beautiful reminder that God is with us, He is on our side, He will make a way.  Far above all we know, Far above all we hope, He has done great things.  Truly awesome things!
