About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I'm addicted to coupons and every penny counts. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your success stories with me as well.

We Made Flubber!

Bradley and I made our own flubber today!  It was quite messy and sticky but we had fun.  For those of you who are concerned about using Borax, feel free to make the non-Borax recipe using cornstarch instead.  This project will require adult supervision.

Mixture 1:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 cups Elmer's Glue
Food Coloring

Mixture 2:
3 teaspoons Borax
1 cup warm water

Make sure each mixture is mixed well.  Then pour mixture #1 into mixture #2.

There is no need to stir the final mixture because it is the chemical reaction that actually makes the flubber. When it is in a glob work it for 2-3 minutes. Initially it feels wet but it eventually dries up to the final product.

*I only had 4 containers of glue so it wasn't enough to make the entire recipe so I just cut it in half.  It made the perfect amount for Bradley to play with.  I also didn't fully read the instructions and added the food coloring after the mixtures were combined.  It still worked perfectly.  The mixture can be very sticky to combine and Bradley doesn't like his hands to be sticky so I ended up working the glob for a few minutes until it was flubber.

Bradley measured one cup of Elmer's glue.

He poured 1 cup of glue into 3/4 cup warm water.

Bradley did a great job mixing it together.

Mommy helped pour Mixture 1 into Mixture 2.

We added the blue food coloring as the last step.

This part was a little gross and sticky for Mommy.

Final result was awesome flubber!

Bradley liked making it into a snake.  Eww!
