About Me

My photo

Life is beautiful whether you're soaking in sunshine or caught in a thunderstorm. I take the beauty of life for granted too often. I have a supportive husband who I don't want to live life without, a beautiful son who is always reminding me of the simple things that really matter, and an independent daughter who is teaching me to throw schedules out the window and live in the moment. My day is made when free samples fill my mailbox. I love discovering a new product and sharing it with others. I hope you will enjoy reading my posts and will share your stories with me as well.

Memory Lane

The last photo taken of Mom, Mike, and me.
This week has been full of memories for me.  Two years ago I went for a week in Texas to stay with my Mom.  She was battling breast cancer and was getting treatments in Mexico.  Unfortunately the treatments did not work and she died on February 25th, 2009.  So this week is full of the memories I had of my last week with her.  I've made her homemade sourdough bread, went to Mr. K's used bookstore (her absolute favorite place to buy books), made her homemade applesauce, her homemade banana bread, and last night I made her chicken and gravy over toast.  Some of you may think these things are silly but for me, each of these brings back special memories of her.  She loved to cook and bake and I couldn't even begin to count the number of hours she spent in the kitchen.  There was no one like my Mother....

Mom had a beautiful smile that would make anyone feel like a million bucks.  We made a video of some of our favorite pictures with her.  Check it out here.

  1. It is not at all silly for you to fill your life and home with the things that remind you of your mother. What a lovely way to honor her and pay tribute to her.

  2. Love you ashes! I am just thankful we have so many GOOD memories of our mommy!

  3. What a sweet post Ash....brought tears to my eyes. Your Mom was an amazing person and awesome cook. She was an angel during college when she came to visit you bringing her homemade bread and goodies! Thankful that you have so many precious memories of her. Love you friend! (((HUGS)))
